Andrew Faulkner was born in Carmel, California, and had the good fortune to grow up in the same town as The Friends of Photography where he was exposed to the work of the black and white master photographers like Ansel Adams and Edward Weston.

After graduating from California State University, Northridge with a BA in Journalism, in 1994, Faulkner worked as a staff photographer for several San Francisco Bay Area newspapers.

In 1999, Faulkner became the Photography Editor of the Warsaw Business Journal. He worked in Poland for four years for a variety of publications and traveling throughout the country and touching on many of the other Eastern Bloc nations.

He has received numerous awards from the National Press Photographers Association, California Press Photographers Association, and California Newspaper Publishers Association.

He lives in San Francisco and teaches photojournalism at the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department Photography Center.

Faulkner has exhibited his work at the Fort Mason Cultural Center in San Francisco and Galleria Domova in Warsaw, Poland.
